We Welcome Denise to Simply Brass.

Denise is returning to playing after a long break.

The band are delighted she has decided to join us on the Cornet ranks on 3rd Cornet.

We Welcome Hazel Key to Simply Brass.

Hazel is on a years Doctors secondment at Scarborough Hospital .

The band are delighted she has decided to join us on the Cornet ranks and she is playing her first concert with us at Sewerby Park Hall on 11th August 2024.

Our talented Flugelhorn player Esther Pashby played the Last Post at todays 80th D Day Anniversary 

at Alma Parade, Scarborough

The Band would like to welcome Husband & Wife, Janet & Philip Archer to play for the band, Janet on Tutti Solo Cornet and Philip on 2nd Baritone. Having relocated from Manchester and now living in Brompton by Sawdon, near Scarborough they are both looking forward to playing for us.

The band would like to welcome Chris Ridgeway to play for the band on Drums. Chris previously played with Local Bands and is looking forward to playing regular in Brass Bands again. Welcome Chris.

Having stepped down as our Drummer David Hook has  moved onto Cornet and has taken up the 3rd Cornet Position. Great to see you still in the band Dave and thanks for all the hard work and excellent playing you did on percussion for us.

Well we performed our first concert of the season to a packed house at The Orangery, Sewerby Park Hall, Bridlington on Sunday 7th May 2023. The concert was well received by our audience and we received some great comments afterwards along with rapturous applause and a standing ovation.

Last Night we said farewell to Andy Maxwell, our Principal Euphonium player. Andy & Naomi are expecting their first child and Andy obviously wants to spend some precious time with their new baby which is due very soon. The band would like to thank Andy for his commitment and playing ability whilst he has been with Simply Brass and hope he may return at some point in the future. We Wish Andy & Naomi all the very best for the future.

The band would like to welcome Mark Sephton to the  position of  2nd Euphonium. Mark currently plays with The Local Salvation Army Band in Scarborough and Brass Impact. Welcome to the Simply Brass Family. The band would also like to thank Andy Maxwell who has done a great Job for the band on Principal Euphonium who is leaving us at the end of January to take on daddy duties pending the arrival of their new baby in the next few months.

Come and join Simply Brass for a festive musical extravaganza with our friends the Dalesmen Singers and The Whitby Schools Partnership. A free community event full of festive cheer.

The band would like to welcome Natalie Hook to the  position of  Solo Cornet. Natalie currently plays with Beverley Brass band along with her father and has played various positions and instruments in other bands in the East Riding Area. 

The band would like to welcome David Hook to the  position of  Drummer/Percussionist. Dave has  taken up Drums after playing various instruments over the years playing for local bands in the East Riding Area and currently plays with Beverley Brass Band on percussion. 

It is with great sadness we have to inform you that our Flugelhorn player and great friend, Jayne Moxon has passed away in he early hours of this morning. A truly talented, caring and inspirational lady who never complained and fought her battle with cancer for the last eight years. The bandroom will seem so empty not seeing your smiling face and hearing that beautiful Flugelhorn Sound. Rest in Peace Jayne. Love from all your friends at Simply Brass.

The band would like to welcome back  Janella Calvert to the new position of Soprano Cornet. Janella has a wealth of Brass Band experience playing for local bands in the Ryedale district and she returns to Simply Brass after a short break due to family commitments. Janella is looking forward to the new challenge, having been on Bb Cornet previously and  has done spells on Soprano Cornet previously with other bands. The band would also like to thank Kevin Moxon for his  participation in the band and wish Kevin all the best in his numerous playing ventures.

The band would like to announce the appointment of Victoria Smith-Collins to the position of Solo Horn. After a long break from playing and working abroad, Vicky has returned to playing recently and is looking forward to the new challenge and building on the successful progress at Simply Brass. The band would also like to thank Clare Avery for her long term commitment and playing ability on holding the Solo Horn seat for many years and support her in her decision to move on to the 1st Horn position.
